WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Jordan McLemore totaled team-highs of 12 points and four assists, as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to America East foe UMBC, 56-47, inside Reich Family Pavilion on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-23 on the year and 0-10 in the America East, while the Retrievers improved to 7-14 on the season and 3-7 in conference play.

Despite UMBC forcing Hartford to shoot 33 percent from the field in the first quarter, the Retrievers went into the second quarter with a 14-10 lead over the Hawks. UMBC used the opening four minutes of the period to go on a 10-4 run, opening up a 10-point lead over Hartford. However, the Hawks used the final 5:20 of the half to go on a 7-3 run, cutting the Retrievers lead to 27-21 at the break.
After the Hawks cut the deficit to 29-24 with 3:55 remaining in the third, the Retrievers closed the quarter with a 10-4 run, pushing their lead to 39-28 entering the fourth quarter. With Hartford trailing 44-31, the Hawks went on a 12-4 run to cut the deficit to 48-43 with 3:45 remaining in regulation. However, UMBC outscored Hartford, 8-4, to close the game, holding on for the 56-47 win over the Hawks.
