Coppo Homers in Baseball's 8-5 Road Victory Over CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Tyler Coppo went 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI to lead the offense, as Hartford baseball defeated in-state foe Central Connecticut on the road, 8-5, on Wednesday afternoon at the CCSU Baseball Field.

Jackson Olson and Devin Kellogg added two hits and an RBI apiece, as the Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season with the win, while the Blue Devils fell to 2-6 with the loss.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the second inning, Cohoon drilled a solo homer over the fence to give Hartford a 2-1 lead. The Blue Devils responded by posting two runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead.

The Hawks tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth after Bryce Walker scored on a wild pitch. After Ardito earned a walk, Olson served an RBI single to center to give Hartford a 4-3 lead. After a double-steal pushed the lead to 5-3, Coppo was able to score in the inning on an error to push the lead to 6-3. The Hawks capped the five-run inning with another attempted double-steal, with Devin Kellogg taking home to take a 7-3 lead. The Blue Devils were able to plate two runs in the seventh, but a Coppo solo homer in the eighth gave the Hawks the three-run lead which they held on to.
