Nicholas Vazquez | Men's Lacrosse | Mohegan Lake, N.Y.
Nicholas Vazquez was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team. He logged time in 39 games and tallied 42 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and a .459 winning percentage at the X during his career. In this year's shortened season, Vazquez, who scored his first career goal at Marist, held the third-best faceoff winning percentage in the America East with a .557 clip in six games.
A psychology major, he was a two-time America East Academic Honor Roll member in 2018 and 2019.
If you could relive one moment from your career as a Hartford Hawk, what would it be?
If I could relive one moment from my career, it would be beating Sacred Heart under the lights on the 'Zook my freshman year. The crowd was electric in a back-and-forth game, and we came out on top in against an in state rival.
What was your favorite Hartford Athletics event that you attended as a fan, and why?
I would say the 6 a.m. men's basketball game against Niagara.
What passions do you hope to pursue after graduation?
I hope to coach a team of my own in either lacrosse or football, while being a high school guidance counselor.
What lessons will you take from your time at the University of Hartford?
We may not have the prettiest or nicest stuff, but all the bells and whistles do not matter when you work harder than the other person. Having a blue-collared mentality and bringing it everyday is the biggest lesson I have learned from my time at Hartford.
Do you have a favorite photo from your time as a student-athlete at the University of Hartford?
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year, as well as the cancelation of several end-of-the-year activities for all student-athletes.
