NORMAN, Okla. — A trio of Hartford men's golf team members were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced. Recent graduate
Elias Gross joined rising seniors
Eric Evans and
Ryan Tomaso in earning the distinction for the Hawks.
Earlier this summer, the trio joined rising sophomore
Manuel Romero and rising junior
Jared Winiarz on the Big Sky All-Academic Team, which was announced in June.
Gross, who was also named a Big Sky Scholar-Athlete last month, has put together four solid years in both the classroom and on the links. An entrepreneurial studies major from Thousand Oaks, Calif., he posted a 75.63 stroke average in six events this past season. Most impressively, Gross' 74.95 career stroke average currently stands as the fifth-best in program history.
A finance major who is a three-time Big Sky All-Academic Team member, Evans combined for a 74.83 stroke average in 2019-20, the second-lowest mark on the team. A native of Dover, N.H., he enjoyed his best showing at the final event of the season, posting a 14th-place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational.
Recently earning his third Big Sky All-Academic Team nod, Tomaso, a marketing major, enjoyed a breakout season for the Hawks as a junior. The Milford, Mass., native led the way with a career-low 73.65 stroke average in a campaign that was highlighted by a runner-up finish at the UConn Invite at Great Horse.
