ALBANY, N.Y. — The Hartford volleyball team came up short in America East action at UAlbany, falling in three sets to the Great Danes on Friday evening. The Hawks (2-14) fall to 0-3 in league action, while the Great Danes (6-11) improve to 2-1 in the conference with the victory.

SET ONE: UALBANY 25, HARTFORD 20
Facing an early deficit, the Hawks used a 5-1 run that included three straight points to take a 7-4 advantage in the opening set. But the home team rallied and scored eight of the next 10 points to push ahead by a 12-8 count. Hartford managed to slash the deficit to one on three occasions down the stretch, with a Great Danes' attack error making it a 21-20 disadvantage, but UAlbany scored each of the final four points to seal the win in the opening set.

SET TWO: UALBANY 25, HARTFORD 19
The Hawks battled back from an early deficit to tie up the score at 7-7 on a Valerie Diede service ace. But with the score knotted at 8-8, UAlbany, which hit .371 and delivered 17 kills in the set, created a comfortable cushion after scoring the next six points. Hartford managed to slash a 16-10 deficit in half on a pair of Great Danes' miscues and a service ace from Alex Lucero, but the Great Danes clamped down to take the six-point victory.
