Jada Lucas rounded out Hartford's double-digit scorers with 11 points. The Hawks dip to 0-7 on the season while the Friars improve to 3-4.
PROVIDENCE 73, HARTFORD 62
The Hawks started the game hot, jumping out to an early 6-2 lead after back-to-back three pointers from Streeter and Lucas. Providence would fight back and cut the Hawks lead to two, but Hartford utilized a 7-2 run, capped off by a
Carmen Villalobos triple, to take their largest lead of the first quarter, 13-5. The Friars would not go down easy, tying the game late in the first as the first quarter ended in a 16-16 deadlock. Hartford would regain the lead early in the second quarter after a Farkic layup, but the Friars responded with a 7-0 run to take a 23-18 lead with 7:03 left in the quarter. Providence would extend its lead to eight and enter the halftime break leading, 32-24.
Sierra Smith dominated the glass in the first half, tallying seven rebounds.
Providence continued its momentum in the second half, starting the third quarter on a 6-0 run, extending its lead to 13. The Hawks would battle back and cut the deficit to nine after a pair of free throws from Farkic as the Friars led, 43-34 with 3:18 remaining. Providence would extend its lead back to 13 however, taking a 54-39 lead into the fourth quarter. The Friars jumped out to a 14 point lead in the fourth, but the Hawks would start to storm back. Back to back three pointers from Streeter pulled the Hawks within single digits, 62-53, with four minutes remaining in the game. However, Providence reestablished its double-digit lead and stopped the Hawks comeback effort, taking home a 73-62 victory.
