BALTIMORE, Md. — The Hartford volleyball team dropped both matches against UMBC in straight sets on the road inside the Events Center on Sunday afternoon. Abby Nash led the Hawks with a combined 28 kills while Megan Anderson recorded 36 assists.
 
With the losses, Hartford closes the season at 4-6 overall and in the America East.
 
UMBC 3, HARTFORD 0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-16)

• SET ONE: With the two sides tied 3-3 in the set, UMBC went on a 5-1 run to force a Hartford timeout trailing 8-4. Out of the timeout, the Retrievers pushed their lead to 13-5 to force a second Hartford timeout. After building the lead to 20-9, Hartford cut it as close as 22-15, before eventually falling in the set, 25-15.
• SET TWO: Trailing at 3-2 in the set, UMBC went on a 5-1 run to force a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, Hartford cut the deficit to 11-7 before the Retrievers built an 18-11 lead to use a timeout. The deficit proved to be too much for Hartford, as it eventually fell in the set, 25-13
• SET THREE: The Retrievers jumped out to an early 11-5 lead in what proved to be the final set. UMBC built its lead to 14-7, forcing a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout the Retrievers pushed the lead to 20-9, before taking the set, 25-16.
• NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Nash tallied a team-high seven kills … Anderson led the Hawks with 16 assists.

 
UMBC 3, HARTFORD 0 (25-18, 25-8, 25-18)

• SET ONE: UMBC jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, before eventually pushing it to 19-9. The Hawks battled back to cut the deficit to 22-17, but they eventually fell, 25-18, in the first set.
• SET TWO: The Retrievers opened the set with an early eight-point advantage, before pushing their lead to 19-6. The deficit proved to be too much for the Hawks, as they eventually fell in the set, 25-8.
• SET THREE: UMBC jumped out to an early 14-5 advantage in what proved to be the final set. Hartford cut it as close as 19-13, before dropping the set 25-18.
• NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Nash led the Hawks with 10 kills … Maddie Lindsay added seven kills and four blocks.
