Track and Field Breaks Two School Records at UMass

AMHERST, Mass.  – Graduate student Samantha Moravsky and freshmen Robyn Krafft set new school records in the javelin and discuss to lead the Hartford men's and women's track and field teams at the UMass Tri-Meet on Sunday. The women's team finished with eight top-three finishers while the men took home four top-three honors.

HARTFORD MEN HIGHLIGHTS 
·       The men finished with three gold medal performances and four top-three honors
·       Sophomore Anthony Clavette won the high jump for the third consecutive meet, clearing a height of 1.90m
·       Sophomore Uchenna Duru took home the gold in the discus, reaching a mark of 43.93m
·       Senior Victor Shapovalov wrapped up the Hawks first place finishers, winning the javelin with a throw of 60.33m
·       Sophomore William Frank earned third place honors in the discuss after throwing the disc 42.72m

HARTFORD WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS
·       The women finished with eight top-three honorees, including three gold medal performances
·       Moravsky led the women, launching the javelin 49.40m to break her own school record in the event
·       Junior Haleemot Adeyanju also earned first place honors on Sunday, winning the 800m with a season-best time of 2:16.30
·       Krafft wrapped up the gold medal winners for the Hawks, winning the discus with a throw of 40.81m to set a new school record in the event
·       Senior Elizabeth Lodge continued her impressive 2021 season, finishing in second place in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.72m
·       Freshman Emily Parchinski added onto her strong rookie campaign, earning second place honors in the 400m (1:01.15) and third place in the 100m (13.57m)
·       Porsha Muhammad joined Parchinski on the podium in the 400m after finishing second (1:01.65), while Nia Mills took home the silver medal in the 100m (12.70)
·       Rookie Sydney Garrison rounded out the Hawks top-three finishers, placing third in the long jump after hitting the sand at 4.84m

The Hawks travel to Durham, N.H., for the UNH Pre-Conference Meet. The final tune-up before the America East Championships is scheduled for Saturday, April 24.
