CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Hartford volleyball team went 0-2 on the final day of the Boston College Invitational on Saturday afternoon, dropping the opening match against Boston College 3-1, before falling to Sacred Heart 3-0. Freshman
Camryn Luginbuhl led the way for the Hawks on the day with a total of 30 kills and 21 digs and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
BOSTON COLLEGE 3, HARTFORD 1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-12)
SET ONE: The two sides played to a 12-12 tie in the set, before the Hawks scored three straight points, capped by a service ace from senior
Greta De Gasper to push Hartford ahead 15-12 at the media timeout. The Eagles outscored the Hawks 4-2 to cut the deficit to 17-16, forcing a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, the two sides traded points to a 21-21 tie to force another timeout from the Hawks.Trailing 22-21, Hartford took four of the next six points to secure the set victory, 25-23.
SET TWO: Boston College opened the set by jumping out to a 9-4 advantage to force a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, Hartford was able to cut the deficit to as close as two at 16-14. However, the Eagles pushed their lead to 20-14, before eventually taking the set, 25-20.
SET THREE: Boston College maintained momentum to take an early 6-3 lead in the set to force a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Hawks battled back to take a 14-11 lead, capped by a block and kill from Luginbuhl to force a Boston College timeout. Out of the timeout, the two sides played to a 17-17 tie before the Eagles pushed ahead 21-19. Boston College never relinquished the lead, holding on for the 25-20 set win.
SET FOUR: The Hawks took the first two points before the Eagles snatched the next seven to take a five-point advantage into Hartford's timeout. Out of the timeout, Boston College pushed its lead to 12-4, never looking back en route to a 25-12 set win.
NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Luginbuhl led the Hawks with a game-high 15 kills and added 11 digs for her first career double-double …
Morgan Galligan tallied a game-high 35 assists …
Alex Lucero contributed a team-high 15 digs in the loss.
SACRED HEART 3, HARTFORD 0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-22)
SET ONE: The Pioneers jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the opening set to force a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, Sacred Heart pushed its lead to 11-4, never looking back en route to a 25-10 set win.
SET TWO: After playing to an early 3-3 tie, Hartford went on a 7-3 run to take a 10-6 lead. After the Pioneers cut the deficit to 12-10, the Hawks rallied three straight points to push their lead to five, forcing a Sacred Heart timeout. Out of the timeout, Sacred Heart scored six straight points to take a 16-15 lead. The two sides played to a 23-23 tie before Sacred Heart tallied back-to-back kills to secure the 25-23 set victory.
SET THREE: After trading points to open the set, Sacred Heart went on a 5-0 run to take a 9-4 lead in the set to force a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, the Pioneers built their lead to 14-8, never looking back en route to the 25-22 set win.
NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Luginbuhl compiled 15 kills to lead both sides … Galligan totaled a game-high 28 assists in the loss … Valeir Diede registered a career-high seven blocks in the contest.

The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 3, when they travel to New Haven for the Yale Invitational. Hartford will take on the host Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 5:30 p.m. contest against Quinnipiac. The Hawks will close the invitational with a Saturday 1 p.m. match against Syracuse
