WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — University of Hartford Acting Vice President of Athletics & Recreation
Dr. Sharon Beverly announced the hiring of
Stephanie Flamini on Monday. A native of King of Prussia, Pa., who has combined for more than 25 of years of experience as a coach and administrator at the NCAA Division III level, Flamini joins the Hawks as a Senior Associate Director of Athletics.
At Hartford, Flamini will build on Hartford's DIII compliance model, which will include educating coaches, staff, student-athletes and the campus community. She will also oversee the development of Esports and serve as a key member of Hartford's DIII Transition Team.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the University of Hartford and our student-athletes during such an exciting time," said Flamini. "I look forward to working with Dr. Beverly and the coaching staff as we prepare to transition to Division III."
Flamini comes to Hartford from Guilford College, where she served Senior Woman Administrator and head coach of the Quakers' women's basketball team for the past 18 years. In addition, she took on the title and duties of Assistant Director of Athletics in 2015.
On the court, Flamini led Guilford to a 287-171 record, which included six Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship final appearances and three league titles. The winningest coach in program history, she was a two-time ODAC Coach of the Year (2016, 2019), a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Region 5 Coach of the Year and a finalist for the National Coach of the Year during her tenure.
Before joining Guilford's staff, Flamini spent three seasons as head coach of the women's basketball team at Chowan University. She guided Chowan to three straight winning seasons, amassing a 42-32 record during that time. Flamini also worked as Chowan's Senior Woman Administrator/Assistant Athletic Director.
Flamini, who also enjoyed a stint as women's basketball coach and Assistant Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator at University of Maine at Farmington, has also worked as an assistant coach at Shippensburg University and West Chester University.
