HARTFORD 1, UALBANY 1 (2ot)
The Hawks threatened often in the first half, holding a 9-2 advantage in shots during that stretch. In the 21st minute, Hartford generated a dangerous opportunity when sophomore
Chloe Layne's shot from the top of the box bounced off the crossbar. The Hawks threatened two more times in the 30th minute, but Great Danes' keeper Cassandra Coster was up for the challenge, making impressive back-to-back saves on a blast from
Andrea Carina Costa Garcia and a point-blank range attempt from Mikaela Montgomery-Williams on the rebound.
After a scoreless first half, Hartford broke through in the 56th minute. Sophomore
Kelly Severini initiated the action, slotting a ball to Layne at the top of the box. Turning her defender, Layne rifled a shot past a diving Coster to put the Hawks in front. UAlbany countered not long after, though, as Jada Colbert ripped a shot from 18-yards out into the back of the net. Despite both sides combining for eight shots during the two overtime sessions, neither team would break through as the match ended in a draw.
