Paula Maurina tied her career-high of 18 points while graduate
Lya Farcy added 13 points as the Hartford women's basketball team took down UAlbany, 52-49, snapping the Great Danes seven-game winning streak and picking up its first win of the season. The Hawks move to 1-13 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Great Danes drop to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the America East.

After
Abby Streeter scored a three on the Hawks opening shot, Albany responded with an 8-0 run to take an 8-3 lead at the 7:54 mark. Hartford clawed its way back, leveling the score at 10-10 after a
Jabria Ingram driving layup. The Great Danes reestablished its lead, utilizing a 7-0 run to retake the lead. However, a
Lya Farcy layup and back-to-back buckets from
Paula Maurina saw the Hawks cut the deficit to one, as the Great Danes led, 17-16, after the first quarter. UAlbany started the second quarter on a 5-2 run, taking a 22-18 lead. Both sides continued to trade baskets as the Hawks eventually tied the game at 24-24 with 3:52 left after a
Carmen Villalobos jumper. Hartford piled on the pressure, going on a 6-0 run at the end of the half to take a 30-27 lead at the break.
UAlbany controlled the third quarter, taking a 41-36 lead into the final quarter. Both sides traded buckets in the beginning of the fourth quarter, with the Great Danes holding a 45-40 advantage at the 7:19 mark. A 5-0 run by Hartford, utilizing a turnaround jumper and a three pointer by Farcy, leveled the game up at 45 a piece. The Hawks took the lead in their next possession, 48-45, after a Villalobos triple. Albany would not go down easy, pulling back within one, trailing 50-49 with 4:18 remaining. The Hawks defense remained strong, not allowing the Great Danes to score for the remainder of the quarter as a
Sophie Benharouga jumper with a minute and ah alf remaining sealed the Hawks victory, 52-49.
