Men's Basketball Bounces Back to Take Down Binghamton, 72-60

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hartford men's basketball team bounced back on Wednesday to take down Binghamton, 72-60, inside Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion. Led by junior Moses Flowers, who posted his second straight double-double after registering game highs in scoring (21 points) and rebounds (13 boards), the Hawks avenged a 10-point loss suffered at the hands of the Bearcats in Vestal less than 48 hours ago.

Hartford (4-12), which placed four players in double figures, evened its record in America East play to 2-2. George Tinsley led Binghamton (8-9, 5-3 AE) with 15 points.

The Hawks' offense was rolling again out of the opening tip. With the score knotted at 5-5, Hartford forced Binghamton to play from behind for the second straight time after building a 20-7 lead behind a 15-2 run with 12:30 left. The Hawks, who had five different players knock down a three in the opening half, forced five Bearcats' miscues and held the visiting team to just 29 percent shooting to push ahead by as many as 16 with 1:54 to go before halftime.

Up by 15 (38-23) at the break, the Hawks outscored the Bearcats by a 10-5 margin to stretch the advantage to 48-28 with 15:29 to go. Binghamton responded with a 10-3 spurt to close the gap to 51-38 and ultimately pulled within 11, but wouldn't come any closer for the remainder of the contest.
