Terriers Take Down Men's Basketball

Box Score BOSTON – A first-half scoring drought sunk the Hawks as the Hartford men's basketball team fell, 102-66, on the road at Boston University Thursday night. The Hawks trailed by just three, at 31-28, when the Terriers unleashed a 19-0 run spanning more than six minutes in the first half to break the game open.

Anthony Morales scored a career-best 19 points to lead the Terriers, who also got 18 from Jonas Harper and 10 from Ethan Brittain-Watts. Junior Briggs McClain led the Hawks with 19 of his own, with 17 coming after halftime. Michael Dunne finished with a career-high 14, while Kurtis Henderson scored all 11 of his points in the first half.
 
Henderson was instrumental in keeping the Hawks within striking distance early on, opening the game 4-for-4, including 3-for-3 from long distance. Hartford was on fire from 3-point range in the first half (.429, 6-for-14) but still trailed the Terriers (.500, 7-for-14). McClain was even as hot after halftime. He opened the game 1-for-7 but went 7-for-7 down the stretch.
 
Hartford shot well in the contest, finishing 48 percent from the floor, but offensive miscues plagued the Hawks. Hartford committed 22 turnovers, which BU converted into 29 points. The Terriers also controlled the game down low, winning the rebounding battle, 37-24, and outscoring the Hawks 48-22 in the paint.

Following back-to-back road games, the Hawks return home to host a pair of Division III opponents. Hartford will welcome Houghton University on Saturday at 2 p.m. and FDU-Florham on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. After that brief homestand, the Hawks head back out, traveling to Philadelphia for the Cathedral Classic, where they will take on Penn, Delaware and Colgate over Thanksgiving weekend.
