BU gained an early lead, starting the game on a 13-4 run. Forbes would cut the Terriers nine-point lead to start the game down to five, after driving to the basket on back-to-back possessions, scoring a quick four points in 30 seconds. The Hawks would keep within striking distance trailing 18-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Both sides would trade buckets to start the second quarter, as Hartford would cut the lead to just four at the 7:57 mark after Forbes drilled a three off of a dish from senior Irene Primo. With 2:09 remaining in the first half, Primo would sink a shot from behind the arc off a pass from Forbes to cut the Terriers lead to five. BU would regain its double-digit advantage, taking a 39-29 lead into the halftime break.

The Terriers carried their momentum into the third quarter, taking a 57-36 lead into the fourth. Hartford's deficit grew to be too much to overcome, as BU pulled away in the final quarter to earn a 73-45 victory over the Hawks.
