BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y – Graduate student
Michael Dunne was hot from beyond-the-arc, hitting five three-pointers and leading all Hartford scorers with 16 points. However, his effort would not be enough for the Hawks to keep pace with St. Francis Brooklyn as they fell to the Terriers, 68-50.
ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN 68, HARTFORD 50
The Terriers started the game hot, jumping out to a 7-0 lead over the first three minutes of the contest before Dunne would hit his first three-ball of the game at the 16:25 mark. The Hawks were able to close the gap to three as
Briggs McClain made a fast-break layup a minute later.
However, the Terriers responded with a 9-0 run, thanks to back-to-back-to-back three-pointers from Rob Higgins and Tedrick Wilcox Jr, who hit his only two shots from distance on back-to-back possessions.
The Hawks would chip away at the double-digit disadvantage over the next 10 minutes and get as close as two, first on a
Braxton Jones jumper with just over three-and-a-half minutes remaining and then again on a
Matt Hobbs layup. They went into the break trailing by six, 29-23.
St. Francis came out strong in the second half, opening up a double-digit lead again with a 12-4 run out of the gate. The Hawks closed the deficit midway through the second half with a 10-0 run of their own, but the Terriers answered right back with a 15-0 run of their own to put the game out of reach.
The teams traded baskets down the stretch with St. Francis earning the win, 68-50.
