Hunter Marks scored a game-high 19 points as the Hartford men's basketball team fell, 85-75, at UMass Lowell on Monday evening. With the Hawks leading 40-39 at the half, UMass Lowell pulled away in the second half to take home the victory.
Hartford (5-15), dips to 3-5 in America East action. Led by 19 points from Max Brooks, UMass Lowell improves to 12-10 overall and 4-6 in the league.
UMASS LOWELL 85, HARTFORD 75
Hartford started the game hot as a
David Shriver three, followed by two buckets from
Moses Flowers gave the Hawks an early 7-2 lead. UMass Lowell would fight back, using a 5-0 run to tie the game at 7-7 at the 16:58 mark. Both sides would trade points until a 7-0 Hartford run gave the Hawks a 18-12 advantage. The River Hawks would respond with a 8-0 to take a 20-18 lead with 11:10 left in the first half. Hartford would use another big run, capped off by a
D.J. Mitchell three to retake the lead gain a 32-26 advantage with five minutes left in the half. UMass Lowell would not go away however, as they closed the gap to one, as Hartford entered the halftime break up, 40-39.
UMass Lowell opened the second half on a 5-0 run, before a Flowers three cut the River Hawks momentum. Hartford would retake the lead, 47-46, after a Flowers layup with 16:50 to go, but UMass Lowell would use another 5-0 run to regain the advantage.
Traci Carter pulled the Hawks back within one, but the River Hawks responded with a 7-0 run, taking a 58-50 lead. UMass Lowell would start to pull away until a four-point play by Marks at the 5:49 mark, got the Hawks back within single digits, 73-64. Hartford would not get any closer however, as UMass Lowell won 85-75.

- Marks finished 5-of-6 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 at the free-throw line
- Marks also dished out a game-high five assists
- Flowers (16 points), Mitchell (15) and Shriver (11), joined Marks in double figures

- The Hawks went 54.5 percent from three (12-of-22) compared to the River Hawks 50.0 percent (10-of-20)
- UMass Lowell held a 37-16 rebounding advantage
