UALBANY 5, HARTFORD 3
Hartford got off to a hot start in this afternoons America East contest, leaving the bases loaded in the first and bringing two runs across the plate in the second. Samantha Nagel and Paige Fedak put the Hawks up on the board in the second, after Nagel led off the inning with a single to right field and was pinch ran for by Sarah Serrano, Fedak immediately followed by lining a double over the left fielder's head. However, before the play could come to an end, a throwing error was made by the Great Danes first baseman which let Serrano and Fedak come home and score. UAlbany answered back right away putting three runs up on the board in the top of the third to take a 3-2 over Hartford. The Great Danes tacked on one more run in the fifth before Hartford would respond with one run in the bottom half to close the gap to one. Haley Cassidy lined a single up the middle to get things started followed by singles from both Olivia Wolk and Kelsey Galevich which loaded the bases. With the bases loaded Emma Curry reached base on a fielder's choice which advanced Wolk over to third. On a passed ball allowed by the UAlbany catcher, Wolk was able to capitalize and advance home, cutting the Great Dane lead to 4-3. Despite a valiant effort to mount a comeback and answer the run plated by UAlbany in the seventh, Hartford would fall short in game one of the series, 5-3.
