Hartford was able to put together a rally in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going and close the gap. Samantha Ganaden got the inning started by reaching on an error made by the Great Danes shortstop, immediately followed by Milena Wilton reaching base after being hit by a pitch. With two runners on base, Chandler Mitchell lined a single into right field, bringing home Ganaden from second to get the Hawks on the board. The Hawk who has been swinging the hottest bat on the team, Haley Cassidy, stepped up and launched a three-run homerun out to left field to bring the score to 8-4.
