STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Hartford softball team wrapped-up its three-game weekend set at Stony Brook this afternoon. The Hawks dropped the series finale to the Seawolves, 6-2. Hartford drops to 13-25 overall and 2-10 in the conference, while Stony Brook jumps to 26-13 on the year and 6-3 in conference play.
STONY BROOK 6, HARTFORD 2
Stony Brook was off to a hot start in the final game of the three-game set, getting the scoring started in the first by putting one run up on the board. Hartford was able to answer immediately after in the top of the second to take the lead from the Seawolves.
Paige Fedak got the scoring started for the Hawks after lifting a sacrifice fly out to right field to bring home
Kelsey Galevich from third and tie the game at one.
Olivia Wolk followed by lacing an RBI single into left center to advance
Samantha Nagel across the plate and give Hartford a 2-1 lead. Stony Brook would tie the game at two in the bottom half, before tacking on two more runs to its lead in both the fourth and sixth innings. Despite a valiant effort in the top of the seventh to mount a comeback the Hawks would fall in the series finale, 6-2.
