Rivera Hits Solo Home Run as Hawks Fall, 3-1, at Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Noah Rivera led the Hartford baseball team with a 2-for-3 outing at the plate, including a solo home run, as the Hawks dropped a narrow 3-1 decision at Northeastern this afternoon. The Hawks fall to 6-28 overall while the Huskies improve to 20-20-1.

NORTHEASTERN 3, HARTFORD 1
After a scoreless first inning, Rivera broke the deadlock with a solo homerun to left in the top of the second, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead. However, the Huskies quickly responded, firing off three runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame to take a 3-1 advantage. Ryan LaPierre responded well, shutting down the Huskies' offense over the next few innings, tallying six strikeouts on the day. Hartford looked to get one run back in the top of the fifth, as Ryan Knight reached third base after a single and a throwing error but was unable to score. The Hawks had another great chance in the top of the sixth, putting runners on the corners, but Northeastern prevented the Hawks from cutting into their lead. Julien Giroux-Harvey would enter the game in the seventh and continue to shutdown Northeastern's offense, but the deadlocked proved too much to overcome as Northeastern went home with a 3-1 victory.
