Women's Soccer Falls to St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-2

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The Hartford women's soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 decision on the road this afternoon against St. Francis Brooklyn. The Hawks fall to 2-1-0 on the season, while the Terriers improve to 1-1-1.

ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN 3, HARTFORD 2
Early on in the fourth minute, an offside call negated what would have been the first goal of the game from Imani Jenkins from right inside the box. After the early scoring chance Hartford goalkeeper Abigail McCarthy went to work, facing 12 shots and making five saves in the first half. Giving the netminder some breathing room was Jenkins in the 25th minute off of a lead pass from Christina Stone. Jenkins would wrap around her defender and slice the first goal of the game into the upper left corner of the net to take a 1-0 lead into the half.

St. Francis Brooklyn would respond after the break, tying the game up at one a piece in the 49th minute. Hartford responded just nine minutes later after Ishani Sharma split the defenders with a brilliant pass to the right foot of Jenkins for her fifth goal of the season. However, the Terriers would answer back with two more goals of their own in the 64th and 81st minutes, earning the victory over the Hawks by a score of 3-2.
