Box Score NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The Hartford volleyball team started off strong in each of the first two sets. Despite the strong starts, CCSU managed to score a sweep Tuesday night at Detrick Gymnasium.
NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS: Junior outside hitter
Uzezi Ijoma notched a .714 hitting percentage in the first set. She led the way with 10 kills, six digs, an ace, and two blocks. This is the sixth time in the last seven matches Ijoma finished with double digit kills. Defensively, outside hitters
Greta De Gasper and Lindzi Thomas led the way with eight digs.
CCSU 3, HARTFORD 0 (18-25, 19-25, 12-25)
SET ONE: Hartford took an early lead and held a 16-15 near the midpoint. Ijoma finished the set with a .714 hitting percentage and five kills. Senior setter
Lika Nkenchor lead the team with five assists and three digs. Senior middle blocker
Sara Gasparotto clocked in a solo block plus a kill.
SET TWO: Another back-and-forth set, which saw Hartford go up 13-10 at one point. Ijoma continued her dominance with four kills, a solo block and a service ace. Freshman Lindzi Thomas and Gasparotto added two kills each.
SET THREE: Three freshman led the way, combining for five points. Freshman outside hitter Isabella Labrada scored three of those. Kionah Thomas and Lindzi Thomas also contributed points. Gasparotto and Ijoma also added kills to their totals.
