WEST HARTFORD, CONN. – Hartford volleyball will finish its 15-match road trip after heading South to Newark, N.J. where the NJIT Highlanders play host to the Hawks for a 6 p.m. Friday matchup at the NJIT Wellness and Events Center.
Junior outside hitter
Uzezi Ijoma surpassed the 200-kills mark for her career Tuesday night at Bryant. The Westfield, N.J. native is in line to notch 100 kills for the season as Ijoma is eight kills away. Ijoma has produced double-digit kills in three matches this season. With 18 blocks, Ijoma is also second on the team.
Speaking of defense, Senior outside hitter
Sara Gasparotto has a knack for denying points to other teams. With 19 blocks, she is one half of an Italian duo known for its stellar defense. The other half of the duo is senior outside hitter
Greta De Gasper, who leads the team with 102 digs. She is also tied for the team lead with seven service aces.
NJIT enters the match with a 4-12 record. The Highlanders recently snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Iona. Hartford has won eight straight matches against NJIT, including 15 straight sets. This includes four consecutive sweeps.
