#25 Hartford stays unbeaten against CCC

Box Score BOSTON, MASS. - The nationally-ranked University of Hartford's women's soccer team stayed unbeaten against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents with a 7-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Wednesday at Sweeney Field.
 
Senior Imani Jenkins played a role in all of the first three goals of the game. She assisted senior Christina Stone to get the scoring going just 85 seconds into the game. Jenkins then scored the next two goals, unassisted in the fifth minute, and off a senior May Cervone assist in the 15th minute.
 
From there, freshman Kathleen Brush made her presence felt. Before scoring in the 22nd minute, the forward hit the crossbar twice. She found Lindsey Metcalfe standing in the front of the goal off a corner kick three minutes later.
 
Senior Ishani Sharma and Cervone added goals in the second half to round out the scoring.
  
 
INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES
 
  • Hartford entered the game ranked 25th nationally and second in Region II in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Hawks are also second in the latest Massey Ratings.
  • Hartford dominated the stat sheet, launching 30 shots – 18 of which were on goal. They added an 11-0 edge on corner kicks.
  • The Leopard didn't get their first shot until the 72nd minute of the game.
  • Sophomore Sejal Johnson didn't face a single shot in her 62-plus minutes of action. Sophomore Mira Mahmoud helped maintain the team's clean sheet with a pair of saves in her 27 minutes of action.
  • It was Jenkins' sixth multi-goal game of the season.
  • Brush has now scored at least one goal in seven straight contests.
  • Sophomore Lila Doyle earned her first career point as part of a double assist on the Cervone goal in the 75th minute.
WHAT'S NEXT
 
Hartford (11-2 overall, 7-0 CCC) will continue to face CCC competition when it takes on Nichols College 1 p.m. Saturday at Al-Marzook Field. It will be Senior Day for the women's soccer team.
