It was a coming-out party for freshman
Adrianna McCoy.
The guard scored 31 points off the bench, but one bad quarter hampered the University of Hartford women's basketball team as the Hawks fell to Williams Sunday, 78-67, in the Chase Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion.
McCoy tallied the most points of any Hartford women's basketball player in their collegiate debut, and the 31 points were tied for fourth-most of any Hartford player in a game. She was 10-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-10 from three-point range.
Hartford opened up an eight-point lead with 1:41 left in the opening quarter, but the Ephs scored the final six points of the stanza to pull to within two. The spurt was just a harbinger of what was to come as Williams tallied the first six points of the second quarter.
The second quarter was the ultimate downfall for the Hawks as they were outscored 20-8 over the 10-minute span. It was the only quarter in which Hartford was outscored.
Freshman
Madison Baird finished with 12 points, three assists, and two rebounds. Freshman
Kendall Rieman pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while freshman
Sidnee Bowden added seven rebounds.
