Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Four second-half goals lifts WSOC

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – About 24 hours after ascending to the top spot of the Massey Ratings, the University of Hartford women's soccer team flexed their proverbial muscles with a 4-1 comeback victory over #17 Montclair State Sunday in non-conference action at the MSU Soccer Park.

The Red Hawks took the halftime lead with a goal in the 25th minute.

Adjustments at the break proved vital as Hartford blew the game open with three goals in six minutes.

Senior Imani Jenkins took a long pass from senior Ishani Sharma, evaded the goalkeeper, and deposited the shot in the back of the net in the 56th minute. Senior Christina Stone aided the next two goals in the 59th and 61st minutes, assisting on goals by graduate Leah Barbieri and Victoria Jedrychowski. It was the first goals of the season for both Barbieri and Jedrychowski.

Sophomore Camryn Wilkinson concluded the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 66th minute.

Sophomore Sejal Johnson improved to 2-0 between the pipes, recorded four saves, and allowed one goal.

COACHES COMMENTS
"Montclair State was a great opponent," said Hartford women's soccer coach John Natale. "They came out and scored a great goal, and deserved to take the lead into half. They are physical and pushed us to our limits. The second half was a great team response after being down a goal. Our leadership from our senior players was excellent. They lead by example by executing better and bringing tons of energy back into the game. Our midfield was able to take the game over and Christina Stone was a big part of that in the second half. I'm really looking forward to our trip to Georgia to face off against a national power such as Emory."
