Ella Marchesani engraved her name in the school record books, scoring an impressive 19 points in just the third quarter, leading the University of Hartford Women's basketball team to a resounding 70-54 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Gordon College Saturday inside the Chase Family Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion.
Marchesani finished the game with a career-high 21 points, showcasing her shooting ability with an 8-for-18 performance from the field, including 4-for-9 from behind the arc. She added a career-best six rebounds with a career-high tying three assists and a pair of steals.
The Hawks burst out of the gates with a scorching 14-0 run to commence the third quarter, marking their most vital period as they amassed 25 points while limiting Gordon to a mere nine. Notably, the Hawks exhibited exceptional efficiency in the third quarter, shooting 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from the field. Hartford held the Fighting Scots to just 17.5 percent (3-of-17) in the fateful quarter.
Hartford scored the first six points of the game on three-pointers from
Taryn Blevins and
Adrianna McCoy and never trailed.
With 17 points, Blevins notched her second consecutive game with double-digit scoring. She displayed sharpshooting accuracy, going 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and 6-for-11 from the field.
Ava Naszimento secured back-to-back double-doubles with ten points and ten rebounds.
