Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MBB Falls to Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. – Freshman Jaylen Brown scored in double figures for the second straight game as the University of Hartford men's basketball team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Roger Williams, 74-61, Tuesday inside the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium.

Brown finished with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with a career-high three three-pointers.

Roger Williams, on the heels of Hartford claiming the lead, seized control of the game with a 16-4 run to open up its first double-figure lead of the game. During the game-changing run, Hartford shot just 2-of-10 from the floor with three turnovers.

Senior Beluolisah Oranye, who missed the last game with an injury, entered the game in the second half and immediately made an impact. Hartford shot 8-of-12 from the floor while holding Roger Williams to just 4-of-9 and forcing three turnovers to outscore the hosts by eight points, and trail by just six points with a little over eight minutes remaining.

Hartford had several more chances to cut the deficit under six points, but couldn't quite make the big basket or string together enough stops.

Graduate Trayon Rumley led the team with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Freshmen Kaosi Chijioke and Stephen Akwiwu each distributed four assists, while Chijioke pulled down 13 rebounds.
