Hawks Fall to Western New England University on Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The University of Hartford men's soccer team dropped a Conference of New England (CNE) contest on Tuesday to Western New England University by a 2-1 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Hawks converted their first chance as sophomore Austin Murawski (Rocky Hill, Conn.) powered a shot into the back of the net in the 10th minute on assists by senior Devan Jessop (Ashaway, R.I.) and junior Jack Merrill (Newton, N.J.). 11 minutes later the Golden Bears responded with a strike as Matt Spruill got the goal. Both teams had a pair of shots in the final 24 minutes, but weren't on target as the teams were tied heading into halftime. 
  • Junior Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.) made a tremendous save in the 58th minute to keep the score at 1-1. Western New England took the lead in the 64th minute as Tyler Lewis scored past Lunn on a cross into the middle by Mike Milazzo. Murawski had a chance to tie the game in the 89th minute, but Ty Bevan made the stop to secure the win. 
Inside the Numbers: 
  • Murawski tallied his fouth goal in the win, while Merrill picked up his first assists and De. Jessop had his third assist. 
  • Lunn made three saves as his record falls to 7-3-2 on the year.

The Hawks will host Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. start.
