Hawks Head into Break with Loss to Connecticut College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Hartford men's basketball team dropped their second consecutive contest on Saturday afternoon falling to Connecticut College by a 90-54 final. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Hawks led 3-2 in the early going with three consecutive points from sophomore Kaosi Chijioke (Atlanta, Ga.). The Camels took a 9-5 lead on a 7-2 run which was halted by a layup for freshman Chidera George (Atlanta, Ga.). Connecticut College continued to hold the lead pushing it to a 22-8 advantage. Chijioke put home another layup followed by a finish for sophomore Joshua Petion (Brooklyn, N.Y.) kept the lead within 12 points. The Camels had another impressive stretch pushing the lead to 39-19 stopped by back-to-back threes for freshman Reggie Selden (Franklinville, N.J.). The lead was back up to 42-25 headed into the break. 
  • George started off the second half with a pair of layups, but the Camel offense was strong holding a 23 point lead. Sophomore Jared Similien (Brunswick, Maine) netted a three with 12:44 to play, but the lead continued to grow for the home team hitting a game-high 36 points with 7:38 to play. Freshman River Eberhardt (Berlin, Conn.) knocked down a big three and a layup down the stretch but the Hawks fell by a 90-54 final. 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Eberhardt led the Hawks in scoring with 10 points (3-10 FG, 1-2 3PT, 3-5 FT) to go with four rebounds and two assists. George had his best game so far this season with nine points (3-4 FG, 3-5 FT), eight rebounds, two blocks and two assists. 
  • RJ Casey led the Camels with 19 points (7-12 FG, 4-6 3PT, 1-2 FT), four assists and three rebounds. Garrett Clar added 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3PT, 4-4 FT) and five boards. 
Up Next: 
The Hawks will take a Thanksgiving Break with the next game coming on December 4th against Conference of New England (CNE) foe Western New England in Springfield, Mass. at 7:30 PM.
