WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's soccer team is headed to the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship after defeating Endicott College by a 2-0 final on Tuesday.
Rapid Recap:
- The Gulls would get the first shot in the 6th minute as Samantha Klimas had a shot wide. The Hawks had the first chance of the game in the 20th minute as sophomore Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) had a shot high. Brush had the second shot in the 23rd minute just going wide. Graduate student Christina Stone (Glastonbury, Conn.) had the first attempt on target in the 27th minute, but Samantha MacCormack made the save. The Hawks and Gulls wouldn't get another shot in the half as the score was 0-0.
- The second half started with a yellow card being given in the 51st minute going to junior Andrea Buzas (Wethersfield, Conn.). In the 54th minute the Hawks got on the board as junior Lindsey Metcalfe (Palos Verdes, Calif.) finished off a corner kick from Stone to give the Hawks the lead. In the 61st minute the Gulls had their first attempt with a shot by Samantha Klimas that was easily caught by junior Sejal Johnson (Weddington, N.C.). Brush tapped in the second goal from graduate student May Cervone (Milford, Conn.) and Stone in the 68th minute off a beautiful set piece. Michelle Donahue had a huge chance for Endicott College in the 79th minute, but Johnson stayed strong with the save.

Lindsey Metcalfe (Palos Verdes, Calif.). "Sejal being behind me, May on my right hand and our other backs have definatley helped made us great defensively this year. It's great the way we work as a team and it's something I'm really proud of."
Inside the Numbers:
- Metcalfe netted her second goal of the season in the win, while Brush powered home her 12th of the year.
- Stone added her 20th and 21st assist of the year to break the single-season program record for assists in a single season, while Cervone notched her 8th of the campaign.
- Johnson improved to 12-3-2 on the year with her seventh shutout with two saves.

Hartford will host #3 Gordon College at 1:00 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium on Saturday in the CNE Championship.
