WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Hartford men's basketball team fell in the final contest of 2024 at home on Monday night falling to Nazareth University by a 74-65 final.

- The Hawks found themselves down 10-0 after two and a half minutes. Junior Drew Stack (Madison, N.J.) stopped the run with a triple, but Nazareth continued to run ahead extending the lead to 15-3 after four minutes. Freshman Troy Santos (Taunton, Mass.) netted a three followed by another from Stack to trim the lead down to six and after another Santos triple the Golden Flyers lead was 17-12 after six minutes. Hartford continued to battle evening the score at 32-32 after another trifecta from Stack. The Golden Flyers took back advantage taking a 41-34 lead into the break.
- Nazareth maintained the lead in the early going winning by a 45-38 advantage with 15:20 to play. Freshman Chidera George (Atlanta, Ga.) finished a jumper to cut it to five, but a 8-2 counter from the visitors had them up 11 with 12:26 to play. Freshman Reggie Selden (Franklinville, N.J.) and Santos each finished buckets as the Hawk deficit was just six points with 10:51 to play. The Flyers took control back pushing the lead to a game-high 15 points with 6:10 to play. Santos and Stack each netted threes to get the game down to just nine points, but Nazareth would hold on winning by the 74-65 margin.
Inside The Numbers:
- Santos led the team in scoring pouring in 21 points (6-11 FG, 4-7 3PT, 5-6 FT) to go with four assists and two steals. Stack netted 17 points (6-10 FG, 5-9 3PT), and five boards. Selden tallied 12 points (3-7 FG, 1-2 3PT, 5-6 FT) and four rebounds in the loss, while sophomore Zach Skinner (Berlin, Conn.) led the team in plus minus with a +8 in 20 minutes to go with four rebounds and two assists.
- Merritt Holly led the Golden Flyers with 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-3 FT) and 10 rebounds. Luke Insley added 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-2 FT), eight assists and six rebounds in the win.
- Nazareth dominated the painted area outscoring the Hawks 50-14. Hartford won the transition battle outscoring the Golden Flyers 20-14 on the run.
