SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -  The University of Hartford's women's basketball team lost to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England, 69-42, Wednesday at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Freshman Ava Naszimento led the team as she recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Adrianna McCoy and Ella Marchesani scored 10 points each. Marchesani scored half her points from the charity stripe, going 5-for-5.

Western New England took control of the game by scoring the final six points of the first quarter and the first eight of the second for a 14-0 run to open a 17-point lead.

Hartford scored a game-high 15 points in the final quarter. The Hawks connected on three of their five three-pointers in the final period.  

INSIDE THE BOX AND NOTES 

• Naszimento has pulled down double-figure rebounds five times this season and scored in double figures five times.
• Both teams grabbed 40 rebounds. Hartford outrebounded the Golden Bears on the offensive boards, 15-7.
• Both teams scored 11 points off turnovers. 
• Both teams shot 25 free throws with WNE making 16 and Hartford making 15. 
• Eight of the nine active players played at least 15 minutes.

Hartford returns to the Chase Family Arena for its last home game of the season, hosting the University of New England 1 p.m. Saturday. Following the conclusion of the game, the program will honor the contributions of senior Lenaijah Ferguson.
