BOSTON, Mass. — Freshman
Sidnee Bowden scored a career-high 20 points off the bench as the University of Hartford women's basketball team suffered a 72-62 loss to Suffolk on Tuesday night at the Larry E. Smith and Michael S. Smith Court.
After being tied at halftime, the Hawks were outscored in the third and fourth quarters. Despite trailing by just three at the start of the final quarter, Hartford shot 3-for-17 and missed all four attempted three-pointers. In contrast, Suffolk capitalized on their opportunities, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and grabbing 10 rebounds to extend their lead.
McCoy added 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while freshman
Jaida Cunningham pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Hartford started the game by scoring the first 10 points of the game, but when the dust was settled at the end of the first stanza – Suffolk held the slim one-point lead. After falling behind by as much as six in the second quarter, four different players scored during a 10-0 spurt that pushed the Hartford lead to four. The Rams tallied the last four points of the half.
