Baseball Falls Short Against Plymouth

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The University of Hartford baseball team wrapped up it's spring break event with a 11-2 loss to Plymouth State University on Wednesday at the Ripken Experience's Polo Grounds.

Freshman James Hinspeter led the offensive charge for Hartford with three hits, supported by sophomore Cameron Boardman and freshman Alek Popovich, who contributed two hits each. The team tallied 12 hits, with five batters chipping in with one hit apiece, surpassing Plymouth's 11 hits.

Hinspeter's single in the seventh inning scored sophomore Jackson Ciccone with the Hawks' first run of the game.

The Hawks added another run in the ninth inning as freshman Alyis Godbee's fielder's choice resulted in his second RBI of the game, scoring freshman sophomore Jack Durland

Plymouth seized an early lead with five runs in the third inning and tacked on five runs in the last three innings.

Josh Kaplan (0-1), making his first career start, allowed five earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts over two-plus innings of work.
