Hawks Fall to Williams College

The University of Hartford baseball team lost to Williams College, 14-12, on Wednesday afternoon at Fiondella Field.     

Hartford raced out to a early 4-1 lead as senior Jake Santiago hit his third home run of the season to spur the Hawks offense, a two-out shot to right field in the first inning. Williams College was able to close the gap to 4-3 in the top of the third until freshman Tyler Shannon hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to give the Hawks the 5-3 lead, with the help of a single from freshman Josh Kaplan and a center field error the Hawks were able to tally on two more runs to enter the fifth leading 7-3. 

Williams College claimed the lead with six runs in the fifth inning, However, the Hawks were able to answer, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead 12-11.  Williams continued to score, scoring three more runs, two in the eighth inning and one in the ninth to win the game 14-12.

  • Freshman Josh Kaplan finished flawless (5-5)  in his at-bats for the second time this season.
  • Senior Jake Santiago registered his third home run of the season along with a team-high 4 RBI
  • Freshman Tyler Shannon registered his fourth home run of the season along with his fifth multi-hit game of the season. 
  • Freshman Jackson Ciccone finished with his 15th multi-hit game of the season. 

WHAT'S NEXT       

Hartford (9-24-1) will look to conclude their season on a high note as they host Suffolk University for a doubleheader, the first game beginning at noon.
