West Hartford, Conn. — The University of Hartford men's soccer team defeated University of St. Joseph's University Brooklyn team in a close battle on Tuesday evening by a 2-1 final.

- The Hawks were on attack early, sophomore Danny Simeone (Farmington, Conn.) scored a goal off of a sneaky steal from the defense then he passed it to senior Kellijah Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica) and Simeone scored off the returning feed. The Hawks had an early lead 1-0 going into the 5th minute. The teams continued to battle in each other's half. SJBK took strong shots on goal that were defended by the Hawks goalie sophomore Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.). The Bears stayed aggressive on the offense an answered with a goal to even the score at 1-1 in the 15th minute. Goal was scored by Matthew Kieblesz and assisted by Pablo Mejia for the Bears. The Hawks had four shots on goal in the first half putting only one in the back of the net. The Bears tested Lunn with two saves and he held the score at 1-1 going into the second half.
- In the second half the Hawks had a quick chance to take the lead with shot by sophomore Austin Murawski (Rocky Hill, Conn.) but was stopped by Alex Castro of the Bears in the 53rd minute. The Hawks continued to stay on the attack with six shots on goal in the next 10 minutes. Freshman Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored the winning goal in the 65th minute off of a dazzling pass from Morgan. The Bears had a few last minute chances to score with two back to back corner kicks but the Hawks defense held strong to secure the win.

"It feels amazing to get the win", said senior Kellijah Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica). "We had a good preseason and a good spring and we were excited to win for the fans tonight. We were humble going into the second half, keeping our heads in it, like Coach Kulas said before with our attack were pretty quick, we knew a goal would come, and to keep knocking at their door to get the win."

Noble's game-winner is also his first collegiate goal. For Simeone he gets his first of the season and his second collegiate goal.
