Providence, R.I. - The University of Hartford women's soccer team fell to Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday afternoon in a 4-2 loss. Despite a strong second-half push, the Hawks were unable to overcome a three-goal first-half deficit against the Wildcats.

- Johnson & Wales came out strong on the attack, recording the first goal just over 14 minutes in. The Wildcats struck first when Jamie Davies capitalized on a feed from Sophia Iovino to put JWU up 1–0. Less than ten minutes later, Sophia Warburton added to the lead, finishing a pass from Sofia Soares in the 23rd minute. Hartford worked to respond with several quality chances, a corner from senior Rebecca Opdenbrouw (Vernon, Conn.) and a crossbar hit by junior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) in the 39th minute. The Hawks couldn't find the back of the net. JWU extended their lead again at the 38th minute, with Warburton netting her second of the half. The Hawks entered halftime trailing 3–0 despite a strong offensive push late in the period.
- The Hawks came out with energy to start the second half, looking to close the gap against the Wildcats. Despite going down a player after a red card to Brush in the 49th minute, Hartford continued to push forward. Their persistence paid off when freshman Anastasia Nerney (Glocester, R.I.) netted her sixth goal of the season in the 61st minute to make it 3–1. JWU quickly responded three minutes later with Warburton completing her hat trick on a header assisted by Camila Leiva, restoring the three-goal cushion. Hartford continued to battle, earning a penalty kick in the 83rd minute after drawing a foul in the box. Opdenbrouw converted from the spot for her seventh goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 4–2. The Hawks kept applying pressure late, with multiple shots from Opdenbrouw and senior Mayson Massaro (Sarasota, Fla.), but couldn't find another breakthrough as the Wildcats held on for the 4–2 win.

- Nerney scored her sixth goal of the season to get the Hawks on the board in the 61st minute.
- Opdenbrouw tallied her seventh goal of the year, converting on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
- Senior Sejal Johnson (Weddington, N.C ) had eight saves for the Hawks in the loss.
- Warburton led Johnson & Wales with a hat trick, bringing her season total to six goals.
- The Hawks generated numerous scoring opportunities in the second half, recording seven shots after halftime and outshooting JWU 5–2 over the final 10 minutes of play.
