WEST HARTFORD, CONN. - Hartford Field Hockey, celebrated senior day this Saturday, honoring three seniors, senior Sarah Costa (Shrub Oak, N.Y.), senior Mikayla Matthews (Pittsgrove, N.J.), and senior Jaylene Soto (Bayville, N.J.). The Hawks would end up falling to the Bison of Nichols College 0-2 after four quarters of play.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Bison would come out the gates aggressive, as in the ten minute mark a shot would be ripped on net, and saved by sophomore Nicole Ciampa (Jefferson, N.J.), freshman Ava Lipson (Colchester, VT) would come down looking to score, but back to back shot attempts would be blocked by the Nichols defense.
  • Ciampa would continue to serve as a brick wall in the cage for Hartford, maintaining a clean sheet through two periods, after seeing a number of shots her way. The Hawks would see a handful of scoring opportunities, but would not be able to capitalize, as the Bison defense remained strong.
  • In the third period, the Bison would again be unable to get it past Ciampa, both Matthews and Costa would see chances on net, but again would not be able to score.

The Bison would finally poke one in the back of the net, at the 51 minute mark, breaking the tie and giving the Bison the lead. Nichols would remain determined, as their attack would continue to push forward until they laced another goal in the 57 minute mark, securing the victory 2-0.
