Hawks Fall 3-0 Against Endicott College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford volleyball held host to Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Endicott College on Saturday and fell in three straight sets to the Gulls. The Hawks dropped set one 13-25, set two 25-27 and set three 19-25.

Rapid Recap:

  • In the first set, the Gulls came out swinging by jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the blink of an eye. Freshman Lauren Johnson (Fort Collins, Colo.) and junior Jenna Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) picked up a handful of kills to bring the set back to all square. The Gulls libero Abby Downs, however, would lead two separate service runs, giving her squad some breathing room. Endicott would not look back and run away with the first set 25-13.
  • In the second set, the two teams would battle back and forth all throughout. Seniors Kylee Connally (Dallas, Taxas) and Juliana Robinshaw (South Windsor, Conn.) were rolling, setting up the Hawks to stay in step with the Gulls all throughout the set. Junior Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) would also lead a critical service, as Hartford won 5 straight rallies to take the lead in the second set 16-15. Unfortunately for the Hawks, however, as the Gulls were able to take the set over the minimum by the score of 27-25.

  • Endicott would keep on rolling in the third set by taking a commanding lead early courtesy of the work of Hadley Helenbrook. The Hawks tried to fight back into the set but would ultimately drop the decisive third set by the score of 25-19.
