HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's basketball team wrapped up play on Tuesday night, falling to #12 Trinity College by a 70-50 margin on the road.

- The Hawks jumped out to an early 6-1 lead as junior Ava Naszimento (Secaucus, N.J.) and freshman Allie Shenloogian (Park Ridge, N.J.) battled in the paint for early finishes inside. The Bantams answered with timely buckets and generated some momentum for their team as Marlo Simms dropped a turn around shot over the hands of the Hawks to now trail by just one 11-10. Shenloogian closed out the first quarter with composure at the free throw line bringing the Hawks out of the first up three points, 15-12.
- The Bantams opened the second with a quick pull up jumper off the hands of Kiki Fossbender, Shenloogian was right on her tail converting a driving finish to push the lead back to three. The Hawks continued to generate clean looks, junior Ella Marchesani (Saddle Brook, N.J. would drain a big three off a nice assist by junior Kendall Rieman (Chicago, Ill.), while Naszimento put away an inside bucket. Trinity countered with key plays by Lucy Dorion and Melissa Whitmore who found gaps in the Hawks defense to take their first lead of this game with just three minutes reaming in the first half, 33-30. Despite the Hawks back to back offensive boards they were unable to finish in the paint and remained trailing, 35-30 as they headed into the locker rooms.
- Trinity started the third with a strong run, turning Hartford turnovers into quick points to maintain their lead. Naszimento kept the Hawks in this game with a six-point solo series of finishes inside. The Bantams were relentless and continued to answer with drives from Avery Marzo and Lucy Dorion. Despite solid rebounding from Shenloogian, Hartford was unable to produce enough second chance looks as Trinity pulled away. The Bantams closed the third with a dominating 13-point run sending the Hawks into the fourth down 53-38.
- Hartford opened the fourth with a late spark as junior Taryn Blevins (St. Louis, Mo.) drilled a three from the wing to cut into the deficit, now just down by 10 with 5:43 remaining. The Bantams were lights out beyond the arc in this final quarter, Lucy Dorion and Kiki Fossbender combined for nine points in less than 90 seconds as the clock winded down. Despite the early boost from Blevins and continued hustle on the glass, the Hawks were unable to close the gap, falling 70-50.
Inside The Numbers:
- Naszimento led the Hawks scoring 20 points (9-15 FG, 2-4 FT) to go with nine boards, two blocks, and one assist. Shenloogian ended the night in the double digits at 15 points (6-13 FG, 1-2 3PT, 2-2 FT) taking down six rebounds off the glass and nabbed four steals from the Bantams' hands.
- Avery Marzo for the Bantams tallied 18 points (8-10 FG, 1-1 3PT, 1-2 FT) taking home four rebounds, one block, and two steals. Kiki Fossbender added 14 points (4-14 FG, 1-3 3PT, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, and two assists.
- The Hawks lead in offensive rebounds 15-9 over the Bantams but ultimately lead in turnovers as well 20-13.
