BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Hartford volleyball team finished off its 2025 season on Saturday falling to the University of New England in straight sets. The Nor'easters would prevail by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-8) final.
Rapid Recap:
- The first set started fast for the hosts as they jumped to an early 5-1 advantage. A kill by junior Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) and an ace by junior Kalle Legassey (Prospect, Conn.) cut the deficit to 5-3. A pair of kills by junior Jenna Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) would knot the game at 13-13 later in the set, but UNE would counter with a 12-2 closing run to win the first set by a 25-15 final.
- The Nor'easters would use the momentum of the first set into the second jumping ahead by a 11-3 margin. Freshman Grace O'Brien (Avon, Conn.) tried to keep the Hawks in it with a pair of kills, but UNE would stay comfortably in front winning by a 25-13 final.
- The third set saw the Nor'easters leading by a 14-2 margin in the early going. Je. Murphy, O'Brien, senior Juliana Robinshaw (South Windsor, Conn.) and freshman Lauren Johnson (Fort Collins, Colo.) would get the lone kills for Hartford as the visitors fell 25-8.
Inside the Numbers:
- Legassey led the defensive effort with 21 digs. Robinshaw followed with 12 digs to go with two kills.
- Senior Kylee Connally (Dallas, Texas) dished out 12 assists to go with seven digs.
- O'Brien was the kills leader for Hartford with six, while both Murphys registered four a piece.
- UNE had 60 points in the win, while Hartford had just 29. The Hawks had 50 digs as a team compared to just 55 by the Nor'easters.
