WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -  The Hartford softball team picked up a non-conference victory on Tuesday defeating Worcester Polytechnical Institute by a 7-2 final. 

Rapid Recap:

• The Hawks jumped ahead 4-0 in the first inning. It started as senior Olivia Wolk (Sugarloaf, Pa.) singled up through the left side scoring sophomore Alexis Sealey (Pleasant Hill, Calif.). Junior Anita Farkash (Seaford, N.Y.) followed it up with a RBI ground out. Junior Taylor Fitch (Andover, Conn.) came through with two outs singling home two runs through the right side as the lead hit 4-0. The Hawks were cruising adding a fifth run in the bottom of the third as senior Sarah Serrano (Windsor, Conn.) singled up the middle to score Fitch who walked to get on base. 
• Hartford would get two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as sophomore Bridget Bernard (North Andover, Mass.) singled to score freshman Lucy Lembo (Albany, N.Y.) who singled to get on. Fitch added a second ribby on a RBI single as Wolk scored again. The Engineers got two runs in the seventh inning on four hits, but the Hawks would hold on for the 19th win of the season. 

In the Circle:

• Junior Carly Mayhood (Newton, N.J.) started the game going 2.2 innings with just one hit allowed and a punch out. Sophomore Alex Hassett (Granby, Conn.) picked up the win going 4.1 innings allowing both runs on six hits with three strikeouts. 

At The Plate:

• Fitch led the offense going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a run scored and a pair of walks. Bernard went 2-for-4 with a RBI, while Wolk added a 2-for-4 outing with two runs and a RBI.  

Up Next:
The Hawks host Trinity College tomorrow with a 3:00 PM doubleheader start.
