BEVERLY, Mass. - The Hawks traveled to Endicott College on Saturday for an elimination game of the Conference of New England (CNE) playoffs falling to Roger Williams University by a 7-0 final to end the season.
Rapid Recap:
- Roger Williams got on the board in the first inning getting a RBI single after a triple to gain a 1-0 lead. Sophomore JJ Romatzick (Stratford, Conn.) and graduate student Jake Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) both singled to start off the game, but a bad luck double play ended the inning with Hartford still trailing. RWU added three more runs in the top of the fourth on back-to-back homers as the lead was pushed to 4-0.
- Hartford continued to struggle only getting three runners on base in innings 4-6, but they could not get a runner to scoring position. In the eighth Roger Williams added another run before getting two more in the ninth to bring the lead to 7-0. Hartford could not respond falling while just getting four hits in the loss.
On the Mound:

Freshman Jeffrey Blake (Hopewell, N.J.) got the start going 7.1 innings allowing five runs on eight hits with eight punch outs. Freshman Evan Gentile (Berlin, Conn.) followed getting four outs allowing two runs. Senior Luke Rier (Miami, Fla.) closed the game getting a single out.
At the Plate:

Romatzick, Santiago, junior Jackson Ciccone (Danbury, Conn.) and junior Patrick Joseph (Pomona, N.Y.) got the four hits for Hartford in the loss.
