SMITHFIELD R.I. Hartford baseball traveled to Bryant University for a clash with the #2 seed Nichols College Bison in the second round of the Conference of New England (CNE) playoff tournament. Hartford would lose the game 11-3.

Adam Pivacek singled in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend the Bison lead as Karl Miller would score. The Bison weren't done there as Hackert, Pivaceck, Croteau and Harty all scored. Extending the lead to 11-1.

The Hawks would fight back in the top of the eighth inning as junior John Russell (Eastchester, N.Y.) would drive home freshman Sean Newman (Morris Plain, N.J.) on a single to centerfield. Then, sophomore Peyton West (South Windsor, Conn.) would hit a sacrifice fly to leftfield which would drive in freshman Nico DiGioia (Hamden, Conn).
At the Plate:

Santiago went 2-4 including a home run and double. Along with Hartford's only two extra base hits. Junior Jackson Ciccone (Danbury, Conn.) was the only other Hawk to have a multi-hit game, going two for five with a pair of singles, as well as coming across to score.
On the mound:

Freshman Justin Gouin (North Haven, Conn.) started the game for the Hawks going four and two thirds' innings before coming out. Gouin allowed six runs to score with only three of them being earned, to go along with two strikeouts in 26 batters faced. Coming in to relieve Gouin was sophomore Tyler Blumetti (Southington, Conn.) who threw one and one thirds innings, allowing four runs to score on four hits, with a strikeout in eight batters faced. Following him was sophomore Sam Smith (Branford, Conn.) who went one inning and allowed one run on two hits . The Hawks ended the game with sophomore Sean Stanely (Teaneck, N.J.) where he would go one inning and not allow a run or a hit in his three batters faced.
