NEW LONDON, Conn. -Â The Hawks traveled interstate to take on the Camels of #2 Connecticut College on their home turf. The match would end in a draw as both teams would not be able to find a way to score 0-0.
Rapid Recap:
- The Camels would dominate possession for much of the first half, putting on eight shots total and two on goal. However, Hartford would not allow them to capitalize,as both shots would result in saves from senior Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.).
- The second half would start with some fireworks as Hartford would be awarded a free kick early on into play which would give them their closest scoring opportunity yet, before getting cleared away by the Camel defense. Conn. College would continue to pepper the defense with shots, but the Hartford back line with contributions from senior Jack Merrill (Newton, N.J.), sophomore David Czubat (Rocky Hill, Conn.), and sophomore Adam Eley (Newington, Conn.), as well as a stellar performance from Lunn would keep the game scoreless, as both teams would draw 0-0.
Inside the Numbers:
- Conn. College out shot Hartford, 21-0, (6-0 OG) but strong defensive work and goalkeeping kept the ball from finding the back of the net.
- The Camels lead the game in corners by a margin of 5-1
- Physical defense from both sides resulted in 19 total fouls (11-Conn., 8-Hartford)
- Hartford showed stellar defensive prowess, luring the camels into four offside calls.Â
