BOSTON, Mass. - The Hartford men's basketball team earned a dominating 67-50 road win this Saturday over Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Hawks are now 5-4 in the Conference of New England (CNE) adn 11-7 overall.

- Hartford stormed out of the gate against the Leopards, quickly establishing control with junior Kaosi Chijioke (Suwanee, Ga.) dominating in the paint and junior Kyle Winters (Corte Madera, Calif.) hitting multiple threes to build a 10-5 advantage. Chijioke continued to power through the inside to gather key boards. Sophomore Jaron Broomfield (Bronx, N.Y.) also made his presence felt, hitting a fast break three-pointer and adding a jumper in the paint fueling a 22-point run that left the Leopards struggling to respond. Hartford's depth showed through as several players, including junior Leonard Pelzer (Berlin, Germany) and senior Drew Stack (Madison, N.J.) contributed key baskets, while the team's defense created turnovers to shut down WIT. Hartford closed out the first half strong doubling the opponents points with a score of 38-14 to take into the locker rooms.
- Hartford kept applying the pressure in this second half, sophomore River Eberhardt (Berlin, Conn.) forced errors and picked up turnovers all over the court to keep the Hawks ahead. The Leopards responded with an 11-point run, cutting into the Hawks' lead and narrowing the gap forcing teams to tighten up on both ends. The Hawks quickly regained their composure, despite the Leopards' midway push, the team was able to hold their double-digit lead throughout the entirety of this second half. Hartford closed the game strong, finishing with a 67-50 victory, thanks to their relentless energy and complete team effort on both ends of the floor.

"Great overall team win," said junior Kaosi Chijioke (Suwanee, Ga.). " I think we are improving everyday on learning to generate the best shots because when we do they lead to the great results."
Inside The Numbers:
- Chijioke lead the team in points adding a season-high 24 points (8-13 FG, 1-2 3PT, 7-8 FT) and pulling down nine rebounds. Winters was the next leader putting up 19 points (6-12 FG, 4-8 3PT, 3-4 FT) with four rebounds and four assists.
- Colin Mannke for the Leopards lead the team with 13 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 3 PT, 2-2 FT) and eight rebounds.
- The Hawks have continued to be strong at the free-throw line ending the day at 80% compared to the Leopards' 45.5%
