Hartford Men's Soccer Drops Conference of New England Match Up to Endicott College 1-0

West Hartford, Conn. - Hartford Men's Soccer took on CNE opponent Endicott College  on Saturday night where the Gulls would top the Hawks 1-0 in a slugfest.

Rapid Recap
  • The Gulls and Hawks would kick off and keep the ball in contest or in their own half for the majority of play. Junior Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y.) would get the first shot for the Hawks and first shot on target of the day on a Hawks counter attack but it would bounce right into the mitts of Andrew Genovese. The Gulls would respond almost instantly in the 19th minute and their opportunity would also come to nothing as they doinked the crossbar and Hawks would get it away. The remainder of the half would be almost silent as Endicott would only get two more shots off and it would be a scoreless stalemate through the first 45.
  • The second half would be more of the same, although no shots were attempted but there were 7 combined fouls through the first 15 minutes of play in the second half. Endicott would get their first shot on target in the 75th minute but Hawks junior Goalkeeper Christain Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) would stand his ground and make the stop. Just a few moments later the Hawks would fail to get the ball clear and Caden Hansen would smash home a header from a long cross to break the deadlock and put the Gulls in front 1-0. The Hawks would get a pair of corners in the 84th and 85th minute but would fail to do anything. Hartford would then get one last opportunity in the 90th minute but Sophomore Nikodem Kolc (New Britain, Conn.) would fire the shot attempt wide. Endicott would hang on for the scrappy 1-0 win in Hartford.

Inside Numbers
  • The Hawks were out shot five to three and had only one on goal to Endicott's two.
