MANCHESTER, Conn. - The Hartford men's tennis team fell to Rhode Island College 7-0 on Sunday morning at the Magic Liner Academy.

- Rhode Island College opened the match-up by securing the doubles point with wins in two of the three matches. The Anchormen earned victories in the No.1 double 6-3 and No. 3 doubles, 6-3.Â
- Hartford's pairing of freshman Yande Simunyola (Dawsonville, Ga.) and sophomore Anthony Pomares (Norwich, N.Y.) fell short in the No.1 match while freshman Hared DeGruttola (Auburn, Mass.) adn freshman Thomas Andersen (Berlin, Conn.) fell in similar fashion 6-3 in the No.3 spot.
- The Hawks picked up their lone doubles victory at No. 2 where freshman Eli Benoit (Plainville, Conn.)Â and sophomore Jake Short (Poughquag, N.Y.) earned a 6-2 win over the Anchormen.
- Simunyola nearly overtook his opponent in the palace of No.2 singles as he came up short in the opening set 6-2, he challenged in the second winning in a tie-break 7-6. Yande was unable to secure the win in the final set, falling 10-2 in a points tiebreaker.
- The Hawks were unable to get the job done in the singles match-ups and fell short in each of the face-offs.

The Hawks will return to action this upcoming Tuesday, March 17th at 3:30 p.m. on the road to take on Curry College for their second Conference of New England (CNE) contest of the season.
